Search Engines

Find How: I liked this search engine because it will tell you how to do just about anything...I learned how to train my cat to do tricks.

Joongel: This site was helpful because the home page gives you all these sites for shopping, music, videos, images and much more.

Ant:  With ant, I like it because you search for what you need and it shows pictures of the websites with a little description.

Google

Collaberated documents are neat because 2 or more people can edit a document at the same time, and there's a chat feature. This would be good for doing assignments together at your own homes.You can also upload document files from your computer and work on them. That way you can connect anywhere on the internet and have access to the documents.

The wonder wheel is good for making searches more detailed and finding exactly what you need. I did a search on things to do in New York City and found a really cool website that will be useful for my trip there!

Google Maps

Google maps will give you directions anywhere. You can see how long it will take to get to your destination by car, walking, biking, or bus. Google gives you turn by turn directions. You can also zoom in on a map and see it with satellite.

Web Tools

Aviary is my favorite tool! Its a website where you can edit pictures, sounds, and much more. I used the photo editor, because I'm always taking pictures. I used my senior picture. I've always wanted to know how to make part of a picture color and the rest black and white. It was so easy..I just followed a tutorial. They have tutorials for every kind of way you want to edit a photo. Start using aviary here.

Add Ons

The Firefox add on I liked was ReminderFox. It's a calendar that you can add all your events, to do lists (which I make all the time), and alerts and alarms. To find useful add ons for yourself, go here.

Kerpoof has lots of different things you can do, but I drew a picture. There's many tools that help you to be the best artist you can be! :) Go here to Kerpoof.

Google Talk

Google talk is a really neat feature in Google where you can call anywhere in the United States for free. You can call a computer or phone. You can also do video chat. Google talk would be really cool to do on your laptop because you could talk from anywhere-the kitchen while cooking dinner, an airport, from work, school...anywhere!!!

Domain Name

A domain name is the url of a website. You receive one with a blog account, but if you want a specific one, you have the option to purchase one. The domain name I would use for my blog is www.larisahertz.com, it's simple and easy to remember. Godaddy.com is a website where you can buy (and sell) domain names.

Gadgets

Gadgets are available on Blogger. You go to the Design tab on top of your Blogger and there's different places on your blog to add gadgets. When you click Add a Gadget, it comes up with many different types of gadgets. There are games you can add as gadgets, links to sites, your blog stats, horoscopes, and so much more. I added a daily horoscope and a turtle that swims around and that you can feed. Adding gadgets is a way to personalize your blog with things you like, and make it interesting to others. 

Symbaloo

Symbaloo is a social bookmarking website that you create an account on, add all your favorite websites to, and access it from anywhere! You could have different sections for school, personal, games, etc. I like it so much that I've made it my home page!

ImageChef is a website where you can have a lot of fun! You can create banners, personalized pictures and frames, drawings, and much more. These pictures and animations can be put on facebook, your website or blog, or sent to someone.

Avatar

An avatar is a character you can create on different websites like WeeWorld, Meez, Build Your Wild Self, or Simponizeme. You can make them look like yourself, changing their hair, skin color, clothes, eyes, and much, much more. You would use an avatar on your website to represent yourself, but still have privacy.

The pictures to the right are avatars that I have created. As you can see, there is so much variety with what you can do on these websites.

Social Media Usage

Currently, I use the internet to connect with friends, upload pictures, and play games on Facebook. Also, I like to shop for clothes, electronics, and cars. My family and I have kept a blog up since my accident, to keep friends and family updated on my progress and surgeries.
